Condolences
While we were gone last week, Parker's gecko, Gilberta, passed away.
We saw it coming.
In late February, we took her to the vet because her fat little tail was shrinking. They diagnosed her with parasites (what?) and gave her some medicine.
We replaced her cage and got the new light that the vet recommended. She started eating again and her tail started getting fat again. Then about 2 weeks ago, she suddenly stopped eating and started losing weight again. We talked to Parker and told him that we had done all that we could do for her and that she might die.
He understood.
She was his first exotic. He got her when he was in Kinder or 1st grade, I can't remember. She was his birthday present and he loved her.
Sunday night, Maris and Parker carefully put her in a Ziploc bag and a purple Simple Pleasures vanilla and lavender scent dryer sheet box, and they buried her in the trees by the creek.
I will miss Gilberta, she was a sweet lizard.
Dad told Parker maybe he could talk mom into a snake.
Over my dead body.
