Baby of the Family
As an oldest child, I have always believed that the baby of the family has it easy. Less responsibilty, parents are worn down and more lenient, they get everything they want...blah blah blah.
As a parent, on the other hand, I can see that, while some of that is true, it's kinda hard being the youngest...or even the second to youngest.
While Tyler IS the one who gets all the experimenting done on him, we have learned LOTS from our successes and mistakes, and sometimes, we are just plain tired.
Which brings me to the point of this rant. Aliza's 10th birthday is next week. Kind of a milestone...
She wants to have a birthday party. Of course she does. Why wouldn't she?
I'm not a lover of birthday parties. Sorry. So sue me.
I remember when the boys were little, I had an every-other-year rule. Family party one year, friend party the next. And they were on opposite years so that I only had to do one a year. Then Aliza got the even-yeared parties. She had some FUN parties at the Treehouse Museum in Ogden. That was LBD. (Life before Dallas.) Then we moved here, and we have had nary a party since.
And yes. I feel guilt.
Soooo, before my daughter's youth is gone...and I see her slipping more and more into her tween years every day, I guess I have conceded that I will be throwing a 10th birthday party...
But where?
NOT my house.
Do I have a small party and only invite a couple friends, or a huge party and invite every girl we know?
{sigh.}
Cuz, like the country song says..."You're gonna miss this..."
I already do.
If you have any great ideas about fun places to party, that don't cost an arm and a leg and my right eye, I'd love to hear them...
