Back on
September 27th I promised an extended post of Homecoming...and I'm delivering.
Homecoming in Texas is a big deal.
The kids get out of school early on exactly 3 days in the school year.
The last day before Christmas vacation, the last day of school, and the day of Homecoming.
One of the weirdest, coolest, funnest traditions of Homecoming is the
Homecoming Mum.
It's a tradition that I have come to really like!! :)
Here is Lucy Lu and her mum:
Tyler and his garter:
Parker and his garter:
What a stud.
Real men wear flowers...
One of the BEST parts of the day is the PARADE!!!
I LOVE small town parades.
And Prosper's Homecoming Parade does not disappoint.
If anything, it's getting too big.
Every football team from Kindergarten to High school are in it, along with each team's cheerleaders. And if you don't play football, no worries, your soccer, swim, karate, or whatever team can be in it.
All you need is a float!
And you MUST throw candy.
Here is Aliza and Danielle getting anticipating the beginning of the parade:
And Tyler with Danielle...Isn't she a cutie??
Tyler and his friend Rob. They don't play football. So they had to watch.
Tyler likes this picture because he's on a hill and is as tall as Rob. Rob is 6'3". Tyler is ONLY 6'1".
Lined up, ready to go. There was a threat of rain
I thought it was illegal for it to rain on a homecoming parade.
It held off till after the parade was over...
Here it comes!!
By the way...I LOVE this picture, looking down the street of old downtown Prosper, with the grainery in the background, and the mobs of people watching.
The BAND!!
Parker and the Reynolds Middle School 7th grade football team:
That's Ryan waving, and in front of Parker are his best buddies, Grayson and Nathan.
Did we win our homecoming game?
I don't think we did...by then it WAS raining, and I don't watch football in the rain, so I didn't go.
I'm already looking forward to next year and the mum possibilities!!
