Bah Hum Bug!!

Don't we all feel this way sometimes??? Anyway, we are getting ready to celebrate our first holiday in Texas, as well as our first 4th of July in 11 years away from my family. Tim, Dave and Dan and their families are all up in Victor at my mom's doin' what we've always done!! I can't even talk on the phone to my mom without crying! Liza doesn't know why we don't just drive up there!! Papa promised her that no one would ride Princess (her horse) without her. Honestly, though, we feel very welcomed here. We are going to start tomorrow off at Frisco Commons at a ward breakfast, then one of our neighbors who is in the ward invited us over tomorrow afternoon, and our next door neighbors invited us to go with them tomorrow evening to Missy's (that's her name) parent's house. It is about 20 minutes north, and they have horses, so my kids will get to ride this holiday afterall!! We feel very blessed and like we are right where we ae supposed to be!! We will miss the Victor parade (I love small town parades) and 4th of July Scones for breakfast, mom's great barbeque in the afternoon, hanging out and watching the kids "swim" in the old horse trough :). I'll miss going to the park to look at all the junk that people are selling, hoping to find one awesome thing to buy (like my red flower purse!!) with Laurie, Brandy and Claudia and Maris and Tyler will miss golfing with my brothers. But we are ready to start some new traditions...at least for this year!! We are going to start saving so we can be there next year!!

"I am one of [Jesus Christ's] witnesses, and in a coming day I shall feel the nail marks in his hands and in his feet and shall wet his feet with my tears. But I shall not know any better then than I know now that he is God's Almighty Son, that he is our Savior and Redeemer, and that salvation comes in and through his atoning blood and in no other way."--Bruce R. McConkie, "The Purifying Power of Gethsemane"

"...we must be careful, as we seek to become more and more godlike, that we do not become discouraged and lose hope. Becoming Christlike is a lifetime pursuit and very often involves growth and change that is slow, almost imperceptible. The scriptures record remarkable accounts of men whose lives changed dramatically, in an instant... But we must be cautious as we discuss these remarkable examples. Though they are real and powerful, they are the exception more than the rule. For every Paul, for every Enos, and for every King Lamoni, there are hundreds and thousands of people who find the process of repentance much more subtle, much more imperceptible. Day by day they move closer to the Lord, little realizing they are building a godlike life. They live quiet lives of goodness, service, and commitment. They are like the Lamanites, who the Lord said "were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and theyknew it not." (3 Ne. 9:20; italics added.)"--Ezra Taft Benson, "A Mighty Changeof Heart"
