Ray Roberts

Today the kids got out of school at noon and we met Laurie and Jason and their kids and went to Ray Roberts...yay! the water has finally subsided! We have been excited about having lakes so close to us all summer and we have been more than a little disappointed that it rained so much at the beginning of the summer and flooded the whole area. It was a beautiful 30 minute drive to the beach. It is still hard to believe that we live within 30 minutes of a big city one way and 30 minutes to areas with huge horse farms in the other direction. Some of the houses look like Tara. (For those of you who are not Gone with the Wind fans, it is Scarlett's home!) We drove past a ranch called The Horse Palace. Anyway, I managed to burn 1/2 of my body. The left 1/2. The kids had so much fun and it was so not crowded! We practically had the beach to ourselves. Parker and Tristan found a bunch of tadpoles (catch and release!) and Ty, Liza, Rhegan, Clara and Seth swam and dug some awesome trenches and ponds! When we were done, we came home and showered and then went back to L & J's house for some homemade pizza. It was, as always, excellent! Now after a long day of fun in the sun, pizza, wii*, and trampoline jumping, we are ready to veg out for the rest of the night! And I am 1/2 way through New Moon and just can't wait to finish. Sharma told me I would have a hard time deciding who I liked, Edward or Jacob...vampires or werewolves! Sharma, we'll have to talk! Here are some pictures!

"I am one of [Jesus Christ's] witnesses, and in a coming day I shall feel the nail marks in his hands and in his feet and shall wet his feet with my tears. But I shall not know any better then than I know now that he is God's Almighty Son, that he is our Savior and Redeemer, and that salvation comes in and through his atoning blood and in no other way."--Bruce R. McConkie, "The Purifying Power of Gethsemane"

"...we must be careful, as we seek to become more and more godlike, that we do not become discouraged and lose hope. Becoming Christlike is a lifetime pursuit and very often involves growth and change that is slow, almost imperceptible. The scriptures record remarkable accounts of men whose lives changed dramatically, in an instant... But we must be cautious as we discuss these remarkable examples. Though they are real and powerful, they are the exception more than the rule. For every Paul, for every Enos, and for every King Lamoni, there are hundreds and thousands of people who find the process of repentance much more subtle, much more imperceptible. Day by day they move closer to the Lord, little realizing they are building a godlike life. They live quiet lives of goodness, service, and commitment. They are like the Lamanites, who the Lord said "were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and theyknew it not." (3 Ne. 9:20; italics added.)"--Ezra Taft Benson, "A Mighty Changeof Heart"
