To Do

I was talking to Maris and told him I was feeling a little overwhelmed right now, trying to remember everything that needs to be done before I leave.

And he says, "Like what?"

I love the man, but, huh???

I guess you have to actually BE a mother to feel mother guilt.

He doesn't understand that there is laundry to be done (one load left), arrangements to be made (like who will take who to what and when), bags to pack, homework to worry about, schedules to arrange, my hair has to be cut and colored or I'm not going anywhere, a sock hop to decorate for and volunteer at, supplies that still need to be picked up for said sock hop, dance class, baseball practice, road show practice, halloween, costumes, candy, trick-or-treating, and are my kids going to fight the entire time I am gone? Oh, and what are they going to eat?

So he says, "Do you not want to go?"

YES!!! I WANT TO GO!!

On one hand, it is only for five days. On the other hand, it is five entire days!

I plan on having a blast, but I will think about and worry about my kids the entire time I am gone. I will miss them. I love them. I can't wait to go. I can't wait to get back.

Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

"I am one of [Jesus Christ's] witnesses, and in a coming day I shall feel the nail marks in his hands and in his feet and shall wet his feet with my tears. But I shall not know any better then than I know now that he is God's Almighty Son, that he is our Savior and Redeemer, and that salvation comes in and through his atoning blood and in no other way."--Bruce R. McConkie, "The Purifying Power of Gethsemane"

"...we must be careful, as we seek to become more and more godlike, that we do not become discouraged and lose hope. Becoming Christlike is a lifetime pursuit and very often involves growth and change that is slow, almost imperceptible. The scriptures record remarkable accounts of men whose lives changed dramatically, in an instant... But we must be cautious as we discuss these remarkable examples. Though they are real and powerful, they are the exception more than the rule. For every Paul, for every Enos, and for every King Lamoni, there are hundreds and thousands of people who find the process of repentance much more subtle, much more imperceptible. Day by day they move closer to the Lord, little realizing they are building a godlike life. They live quiet lives of goodness, service, and commitment. They are like the Lamanites, who the Lord said "were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and theyknew it not." (3 Ne. 9:20; italics added.)"--Ezra Taft Benson, "A Mighty Changeof Heart"
