Yesterday, part 2: Aliza's Dance class

So, then, yesterday was the parents get to watch dance class day at Aliza's dance. I just love her cute Texas teacher...isn't she the epitomy of Texas dancing? She even said while they were doing their kicks, "Oh, you're gonna have to kick higher than that if you ever want to be on the drill team." Well, OK.
She does jazz (above) and ballet (below).
She tries so hard to do the moves EXACTLY the way the teacher does them!
And here they are tapping across the room.
After the class, she had the moms and the girls voted on what costume they wanted for the recital. There were 4 of the 5 girls there, and there were 4 choices. Two of the girls wanted the pink leo with diamonds and a tutu, and the other two (Aliza included) wanted the turquoise one that looked kinda like a tux. They pulled it out of a hat to decide and the turquoise one won, and I'm not sure the moms of the pink girls were very happy. Texas ladies are very serious about their daughter's dancing. All I could think of was that Texas cheerleader mom who shot the other cheerleader because she thought her daughter should be the head cheerleader.

HA! I was actually thinking about that same psycho cheerleader mom right before I read that last sentence. It's so true. This is one area I really don't understand: Texas and their cheerleading/dancing queens and FOOTBALL. I hear at least one HS football player a year dying because they were playing too long in too hot of weather. That's just stupid. We're definitely not the bestest with priorities, are we? lol.

Texas moms in general. We just love our kids too much. I guess thats what you call it.

Ok, these pictures scare me to my very core. You need to get her into a new studio. That lady is freaky! She will haunt my dreams....

Seriously, though, are you happy with the studio she's in? Cause I'd love to do some research and see what's available here...

Brianna, I actually really love her. She teaches with her mom, and her dad is a grandpa who is so sweet with those kids. Aliza has learned alot at this studio. The reality is that she was born with my coordination in dance and would not do well in a really competitive studio. These women teach her, love her, and encourage her. She loves to go and feels good about her efforts. I couldn't ask for more!

Janette, I know! I was alarmed when the first football player died this fall, but when there were, I think 3 of them that died, I statred to wonder if it was a trend! Kids need to be kids!

It is a trend, and it's so dang sad! It's the reason my boys will never play HS football. Most of the couches are way too "in" to the sport to remember these are just boys ... kids. I cry everytime I see that another one has died. It happens every year ... every August. It's ridiculous. Honestly, the law should do something about it.

"...we must be careful, as we seek to become more and more godlike, that we do not become discouraged and lose hope. Becoming Christlike is a lifetime pursuit and very often involves growth and change that is slow, almost imperceptible. The scriptures record remarkable accounts of men whose lives changed dramatically, in an instant... But we must be cautious as we discuss these remarkable examples. Though they are real and powerful, they are the exception more than the rule. For every Paul, for every Enos, and for every King Lamoni, there are hundreds and thousands of people who find the process of repentance much more subtle, much more imperceptible. Day by day they move closer to the Lord, little realizing they are building a godlike life. They live quiet lives of goodness, service, and commitment. They are like the Lamanites, who the Lord said "were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and theyknew it not." (3 Ne. 9:20; italics added.)"--Ezra Taft Benson, "A Mighty Changeof Heart"
