These is my words.

This might just be a words post.
It is the end of another school year, and as I sit here at the computer, totally last minute trying to think of some creative way to thank the kid's teachers this year, I find myself looking back over the past few years and wondering where the time has gone. My friend Ann posted recently a list of things that she wanted to do someday, when she has more time, more money, more...
Will there ever be more?
And if I had more time, what would I do with it?
When I have more time, I want to...
...paint the kid's rooms.
...bake fantastic meals.
...go on vacations to the beach, any beach.
...and sit there.
...and not worry about the sand.
...make cute decorations for my home.
...catch up on scrapbooking.
...make cute baby gifts for my friends who are having babies.
...and have had babies.
...(if you didn't get a baby gift from me, I had good intentions.)
...paint the rest of my house.
...do creative fun things for my young women.
...do creative fun things with my kids.
...read more with my kids.
...read more by myself (is that selfish??) Reading feels so indulgent to me and I feel so guilty doing it. WHY??
...play.
...not worry.
...be more patient.
...be more cuddly.
...be more...
...be BETTER.
Is it an insurance commercial that says "Life comes at you fast..."???
My kids are getting so big...
Have I done enough?
Am I doing enough?
What will they remember?
Do the people around me know how much I love them?
What will my kids remember about being kids?
Did I do enough this year to improve them?
Did I waste another year?
Did I make a difference?
Am I making a difference?
I have such big grandiose plans and dreams, and I feel like I always fall short.
I'm always flying by the seat of my pants, trying to just GET IT DONE, hoping I get at least part of it right.
I always find myself looking around, wishing I had done more.
And that I had done it creatively and cute.
The end of the school year always makes me feel this way, more so than any other time.
And eventually, someday comes and goes, and I wonder...
Did I pick the best things to do, or waste my time on the good?
Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
I'll think about it tomorrow, at Tara.
Good old Scarlett. If only it was that easy...
Gotta go do some worrying.

will there ever be more? Good question indeed. I *try* really hard not to focus on that....b/c we never really know if we will ever have that MORE that we dream of. Wasn't it one of the prophets that said life was like a old time railway journey...and that there would be beautiful vista's but those were few and far between.....that more so it is the bumps, rough ride, and up hill climb of everyday life that we must learn to enjoy.

I guess we all have our list, but you have done soooo much this year with all the sport and field trips with your kids, etc. They are so lucky to have such a great mom!

WOW your list was so much DEEPER than mine! Mine was all superficial stuff! If I go down the road you just went down, no one wins. If I concentrate on being in the moment with my kiddo and my hubby - then EVERYONE wins!

Sounds like someone's got a case of the Mondays.

Great list. Loved it, and Summer is nothin' but time. Enjoy it. Trust me, you've done plenty. Now, go make a dress out of the drapes already!

Can I do some of those things with you? ;)

I think we all feel that way...and if you (of all people) are worrying, then we all should! You are an amazing person and always show love and concern for all those around you. And your kids are GOOD and amazing people...so, again, you must be doing something right! We can always do better and be better, but remember that you have done A LOT and that the Lord appreciates and notices every little thing. Even if you don't remember or recognize it all...

Great List! Very Deep. I think you've done awesome things for your children! They were always my favorite to babysit. When you go to the beach please take me with you and I will bring the books.

"I am one of [Jesus Christ's] witnesses, and in a coming day I shall feel the nail marks in his hands and in his feet and shall wet his feet with my tears. "...we must be careful, as we seek to become more and more godlike, that we do not become discouraged and lose hope. Becoming Christlike is a lifetime pursuit and very often involves growth and change that is slow, almost imperceptible. The scriptures record remarkable accounts of men whose lives changed dramatically, in an instant... But we must be cautious as we discuss these remarkable examples. Though they are real and powerful, they are the exception more than the rule. For every Paul, for every Enos, and for every King Lamoni, there are hundreds and thousands of people who find the process of repentance much more subtle, much more imperceptible. Day by day they move closer to the Lord, little realizing they are building a godlike life. They live quiet lives of goodness, service, and commitment. They are like the Lamanites, who the Lord said "were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and theyknew it not." (3 Ne. 9:20; italics added.)"--Ezra Taft Benson, "A Mighty Changeof Heart"
