My SOAR-ing Eagle

Last week I was invited to the Friday assembly at the school to watch Aliza receive some awards!! She got a 100% attendance award, and was honored for being on the A-B Honor roll.

(She was disappointed about this one because she got all A's and ONE B, and it was an 89...she learned a good lesson that sometimes a little makes all the difference!!

I'm really proud of her. She works hard and is an awesome awesome student!

But the really cool award was this one:

She was nominated by her teacher to be the SOARing Eagle from their class for the month.

She was called to the office and got to call me and tell me that she had been nominated.

Her teacher said, "I am very blessed to be her teacher!"

Hoop!! There it is!

I've decided I really love basketball season...even though it is the sport I understand second to last (Football and Hockey are tied for first), it all happens in a climate controlled environment.

This season, I've learned about half-court and full court pressing, what the position of "post" means, that you can't stand in the painted part under the basket for too long if you're on offense, that if you fall down while you have control of the ball you can't stand back up with the ball unless you bounce it, that you can't go back across the half line with the ball if you've already crossed it, and what an idiot box is.

I still don't understand all the positions...in basketball, hockey or football. In baseball, everything is so well defined. If you are the 1st baseman, your parameters are pretty well spelled out. Despite all this, I do know that when Aliza gets the ball, she needs to charge right down the middle straight to the basket and not stop...if she does, all those slappy girls start throwin' elbows and grabbin' at the ball.

Tyler's team is undefeated...and last weekend they won 1st place in the Celina tournament.

Parker plays on the Panthers at Fieldhouse USA...they have lost one game, and are currently in 2nd place in their division!

Aliza's team has won 2 and lost 1, she is the lead scorer, and is quite the little rebound queen.
She is one tough ball player!

We are almost to the end of the season...baseball is right aroud the corner!

I guess I'm pretty good at this...

Last week, Kendra posted a guessing contest on her blog concerning the birth of her baby...

I guessed the baby would be born on the 15th at 8:01 am and weigh 6 lbs 15 oz.

.........

Little Wesley was born on the 15th at 9:09 am weighing in at 6 lbs 13 oz.

Congrats, Kendra!!!

Anyone else wanna know when your baby will arrive???

Our last 'Hop

Friday was another one of those "lasts..."

Next year, Aliza will be in 5th grade and the 5th and 6th graders next year are going to go to the new Intermediate School (otherwise known as the old High School.)

Sooooo...being her last year in elementary school (did you HEAR that?? No more elementary school), this was our very last Sock Hop.

(Prosper schools have a Sock Hop on Halloween...)

Fun with the Opfars

On our whirlwind trip to Utah we spent a few days with our Opfar cousins.

We had a fun-filled evening at Boondocks...

We went bowling...

(Christian and Tyler bowl just like Maris, they just huck the ball down the lane and hope it hits a few pins...)

We hung out and BBQ'd and visited and goofed off...

Oma and I took the kids to the open house at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.

What a beautiful, sacred building.

The tent where the refreshments were had some beautiful paintings.
