Long Day...

I Know! It is Tuesday evening and y'all are worried about us because I usually post in the morning, but you can relax now, it has just been a full, long day! Maris and I made a trip into Dallas to the Temple and then ran some errands on the way home...boring stuff, Old Navy exchanges, post office, city of McKinney bill...but we stopped at La Madeleine's. Oh my gosh! When you come to visit, remind me that you want to eat there. Stacia introduced me to it...thanks Stacia! Everything looks so good, but I never stray from my yummy standby...a french dip sandwich. Hands down, the BEST french dip I have ever had and I am a french dip connoisseur. There is a french bakery in the restaurant, so the sandwich is made on a lightly crispy-toasted sour dough bun, great beef, melted provolone cheese and just enough horseradish sauce to spice it up a little...mmmmmm. It comes with a side of pasta salad that is to die for! My mouth is full-on watering just thinking about it now.
And Tuesday nights are Aliza's dance at 4 and tumbling at 515. She wants to stop the tumbling class, so I watched through the glass today to see what is going on. It is a 45 min class, 25 full minutes of it was spent stretching. Then the teacher (who is not the one who it used to be) opens up her book entitled "Teaching Tumbling" and they spend 5 minutes rolling on their sides down the mat, 5 minutes doing cart wheels and 5 minutes doing frog stands. Then they ended 3 minutes early. I'd be bored too. And I'm paying $45 a month for this. Brother. This is the same studio we pulled her out of hip hop because the moves were "kinda embarrassing." I guess we are done there. So if anyone knows of a good gymnastics or tumbling place, let me know!

Yesterday with the "cold front" that came in (our high was only 77) Aliza put on some warmer clothes, and it was obvious that she needed new ones. She has been the same size for two years now (growing taller) so I guess it was time! I spent the day shopping...I know, but someone had to do it. I was laughing because there were people out wearing full on winter coats. With fur. I guess cold is relative! Anyway, I managed to find a few things for the kids:

We actually got jeans for Tyler...none of my kids have worn jeans for years! It's sweats, athletic pants, basketball shorts or other stretchy material! He looked pretty cute in them!
Parker picked out this little gansta' look all on his own...he especially likes the jacket..."word." Or whatever. Did I sound hip? Do I sound like a 38 year old woman trying to sound hip? Does anyone say "hip" anymore?
And this lovely fleece number is what Aliza picked out! I also got her some cargo pants that convert to capri's. She's really picky about clothes and hates jeans...comfort is a major factor with her...she is her mother's child. (Except I love jeans!) But give me a t-shirt and a pair of jeans any day!

And finally, Stephanie asked me if Tyler has grown since we got here...yes! I include this lovely picture with hair brought to you by humidity only to illustrate that my 12 year old son is within inches of hovering over my 5' 10" frame. You guys had better have an extra-long bed for him to sleep in when he comes up. And speaking of...the ticket is purchased, it is now official and you can't take back the invite! He is so excited to spend Thanksgiving week with his "peeps" in Utah! (surely that sounded cool!) Oh well, at least I am trying! TTYL

"I am one of [Jesus Christ's] witnesses, and in a coming day I shall feel the nail marks in his hands and in his feet and shall wet his feet with my tears. But I shall not know any better then than I know now that he is God's Almighty Son, that he is our Savior and Redeemer, and that salvation comes in and through his atoning blood and in no other way."--Bruce R. "...we must be careful, as we seek to become more and more godlike, that we do not become discouraged and lose hope. Becoming Christlike is a lifetime pursuit and very often involves growth and change that is slow, almost imperceptible. The scriptures record remarkable accounts of men whose lives changed dramatically, in an instant... But we must be cautious as we discuss these remarkable examples. Though they are real and powerful, they are the exception more than the rule. For every Paul, for every Enos, and for every King Lamoni, there are hundreds and thousands of people who find the process of repentance much more subtle, much more imperceptible. Day by day they move closer to the Lord, little realizing they are building a godlike life. They live quiet lives of goodness, service, and commitment. They are like the Lamanites, who the Lord said "were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and theyknew it not." (3 Ne. 9:20; italics added.)"--Ezra Taft Benson, "A Mighty Changeof Heart"
