Finishing up the 4th...
After the parade,
(Tim and Kennedy, Uncle Max, me and PJ, Grandma, Becky, Dave, Claudia and Laurie)
the kids piled into the back of the truck and papa took the back roads home.
Papa saddled up the horses,
and the kids rode them all day long...
when they weren't riding horses, they were racing the 4 wheelers through the field,
or playing flag (tackle) football in the yard.
When it started to get dusk and cold, the kids put on jackets and sat around the fire pit and roasted marshmallows and hot dogs.
When it got dark, Tim and Rick risked their very lives, (and probably ours) by setting off fireworks. So we ooohed and aaahed and finally collapsed, exhausted, in our beds! The only thing missing was Maris. Thanks, hun, for encouraging us to come. We miss you!

looks like fun. it must be nice to have to put on jackets in the evening....
I didn't know Main Street is considered a back road. It probably was slower than the back roads that do though.
Gotta love the open camp fire. Don't see much of those here!
