Poor Man's Pig

I got out the hoe and evened everything out and filled the holes and called Maris to discuss the possibilities. We have had tons of bunnies in our yard (as evidenced by their pellets in the backyard) but they usually just eat the young flowers I plant in the spring.
Raccoon? Skunk? Possum?
Nope. Nope. Nope.
Maris got home from a meeting last night around 10 and called to me, asking if I wanted to know what had been digging in my flowers.
Meet Lola.
Happy Birthday, Parker!!
Parker has always loved animals. He is the first one to run into my room in the morning and let the dogs out so they can come back in and roll on the floor with him. He has owned 5 fire-bellied toads, a leopard gecko, a slimy thing that I can't remember the name of, and a tarantula, as well as countless toads, frogs, lizards, and crickets...he is tenderhearted and cried when Gilberta and that slimy thing died. He spends every second possible in the pasture with the horses when we are at g'ma and papa's house.
He is thoughtful and sweet and loves me. He hugs me and tells me thank you and cuddles with me.
He is crazy and adventurous and wants to try everything. He loves to dress up and pretend and he loves to explore and play and be out there.
He loves water and beaches and sand and swimming pools. He loves snow and mountains and snowboarding (an activity that stopped once we moved to Texas.)
He loves football and baseball and basketball and hockey. He loves skateboarding and rip stik-ing (?) and rollerblading and bikeriding.
He is always smiling and learning and loving. He loves reading and science and math. He has tons of friends, because he has never met anyone he didn't like. And everyone likes him.
For his birthday he wanted this:For his birthday dinner he wants shrimp, and instead of cake he wants lemon bars.
I love him. Happy Birthday, Parker! You are my best Parker in the world, and I am so grateful that you are mine!!!
Decisions, decisions, decisions...
It's a tank. There is a reason they use them in the military. It also convinced me that when you are behind the wheel of one, you have a huge responsibility because of the damage you could do if you were the one doing the hitting.
(Those aren't even scratches, they rubbed right off.)
Tyler plays on Thursday nights now, and he got to be involved in the coin toss again.
He is getting so tall. He can almost look me straight in the eye, and I am not short. It is funny to me to see him in comparison to others out on the field. (he's 83).

Girlfriends...
This last weekend, I went with Noelle, Nancy J and Connie to an undisclosed location for our semi-annual scrapbook retreat. When I leave I always have grand intentions of regularly scrapping at home (something I stopped doing when Aliza was 1, Park was 3 and Ty was 5) and catching up on years and years of memories. But, I don't. So these 3-day weekends end up being the only time I do it. (But, I have resolved to do some at home before my next trip...)
And...it doesn't hurt to have a little time with my girlfriends away from all the stresses of everyday life!
I forgot to mention how much I love this friend:
We "cropped 'til we dropped!!"
Thanks for the weekend away girls, and thanks to Maris who takes over everything at home so I don't have to worry while I'm gone. When I got home, Maris had grilled some steak for dinner and served it with bread and (his idea of a vegetable) potato chips. Oh well, he had great intentions!
